The team of Laboratoire HÉVÉA has led an expedition in the region of Perac in northern Malaysia. This experience has provided a further insight into the way of living of the Orang Asli Aboriginal people who depend on the natural resources offered by the forest. Our scientific studies focused on agarwood (« Gaharu » in Malay) which is one of the most treasured aromatic woods in the world.
In order to use this resource in a sustainable way while showing respect for the environment. We work in association with a Malaysian company which collects in a controlled way agarwood from the trees where the fungus has been inoculated to form this type of resin.
